Ireland 2006, Day 2 continued
About an hour after my previous post M arrived. We discussed for a moment what we would do, and decided it would be the cheapest to leave Dublin straight away. The others (S, T and B) had been going merrily by bike, maybe we would be able to catch up with them. The plan was to do the largest part of the trip, about 300 km, hitchhiking. M and me have hitchhiked together before, it's easy and cheap and a bit of adventure. We had read before that 'thumbing' wasn't a big problem in Ireland, but it seems things have changed. After walking an hour out of Dublin not a single driver had shown the slightest intention to stop, to the contrary. We figured it was just because we were still in the city, and decided to take the bus out of town. So first we took the bus back into town, then from the central bus station got on the bus to New Ross, were the bikers had planned to strand that evening.
A few text messages back and forth and we learned they would actually head to St. Mullins, a tiny little village out of New Ross. While buying a few beers for the evening a guy overheard we were looking for a ride there, and offered to take us there. Aight! Got there, put up the tent, made dinner, played chapeau, and deserved a good night rest.
Ok my 15 minutes of time here at the EJC are up, so the rest of the story will come on another time.
